Following the negotiations in Kyiv, the Presidents of Ukraine and Kazakhstan have agreed to intensify relations between the two countries.
The President of Ukraine has called the negotiations constructive and fruitful. "It is inadmissible that the volume of our trade turnover has fallen by more than 30%. We have agreed that the work of the intergovernmental commission on economic cooperation would be restored shortly," Petro Poroshenko informed.
In his turn, the President of Kazakhstan has noted: "We will restore our friendly political and economic relations. Ukraine is our close political and economic friend and partner".
Following the negotiations in expanded format, the two countries have reached principled agreements on the intensification of cooperation in energy, mechanical engineering, aircraft, space and military-technical spheres. "The experience and potential of the Ukrainian military-industrial complex will be used to increase defense capability of Kazakhstan," the President has said. Nursultan Nazarbayev has expressed interest in the Ukrainian experience of armored vehicles construction.
The parties have discussed the opportunity of combining capacities of the Ukrainian space enterprises, namely "Pivdenne", "Pivdenmash" and "Khartron", with the Kazakh ones, including Baikonur Cosmodrome.
President Nazarbayev has called the cooperation in the sphere of energy mechanical engineering the most promising. Particularly, in the context of using the products of "Turboatom", "Zaporizhtransformator", "Zoria-Mashproekt" for the construction of energy facilities in Kazakhstan. Ukrainian agricultural machinery and products also enjoy great demand in Kazakhstan.
The interlocutors have also reached an agreement on the supply of coal from Karaganda and Ekibastuz coal basins to Ukraine.
President Nazarbayev have invited Petro Poroshenko and the Ukrainian delegation to visit the International specialized exhibition "Astana EXPO-2017" scheduled for 2017. He has also offered to establish the business forum with participation of the two countries.
