On the Day of Unity, President Petro Poroshenko paid tribute to the first fallen Maidan activists.
On Hrushevskoho Street, the President laid flowers to the memorial signs to Serhiy Nigoyan and Mikhail Zhyznevskyi killed a year ago in the course of confrontations with law enforcers.
The President has emphasized that Ukrainians remembered the Heavenly Hundred Heroes and everyone who had been defending Ukraine.
"We must preserve and defend the unity of our state for all the Heavenly Hundred Heroes," he said adding that he would have a meeting with security officials at 18:00.
"At 18:00, the plan will be approved to stop the operation of terrorist forces and Russian regular troops. It is a plan aimed at regrouping the forces and stopping the aggression," the Head of State noted.
The President has stressed that the entire world supported Ukraine in its struggle for territorial integrity and sovereignty. This was also demonstrated in Davos recently.
"The whole world is proud of Ukraine and sees our unity. The whole world wants us to preserve unity, territorial integrity and sovereignty, and demonstrate that Serhiy and Mikhail sacrificed their lives not in vain," Petro Poroshenko concluded.
